Know Before — Terms of Service

1. Agreement

These Terms are a contract between you and ZAHTECH, LLC ("Know Before," "we," "us"). By using Know Before, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. What Know Before is — and is not

Know Before reads restaurant menus and gives you a Health Score for each dish, plus a recommendation based on the goal you choose.

Know Before is a general wellness tool. It is not medical advice, and it is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, prevent, or manage any disease or condition. It does not replace advice from your own doctor, dietitian, or pharmacist. Please read our Medical Disclaimer, which forms part of these Terms.

Nutrition figures are estimates unless we tell you otherwise. Where we show an exact figure, it is because the restaurant published that figure. Everything else is estimated and shown as a range with a label indicating where it came from. Restaurants change recipes, portions vary, and kitchens differ. Do not rely on Know Before where precision matters medically.

3. Who may use Know Before

You must be 18 or older and located in the United States. Know Before is not directed at children.

4. Your account

Some features require an account. We sign you in with a one-time link sent to your email, so keep access to that email secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us at support@knowbefore.net if you believe it has been used without your permission.

You may delete your account at any time from your profile in the app. You can also ask us by emailing support@knowbefore.net from the address on your account. We honor deletion requests within 30 days.

5. Free access

Free access includes a limited number of camera scans over the lifetime of your account, plus unlimited use of restaurant menu links — paste or type the web address a QR code opened and we will read it if we already have that restaurant — and unlimited browsing of restaurant pages we have already scored. The exact allowance is shown in the app before you use your first scan. Free access is offered as-is and may change.

6. Subscription, billing, and cancellation

Prices. $7.99 per month or $79 per year. Prices are shown in the app before you are asked for payment information and are charged in US dollars.

Free trial. New subscribers get a 7-day free trial. We collect your payment details when the trial begins. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription starts automatically and your card is charged. We tell you the trial end date when you sign up.

Automatic renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically — monthly or annually, matching your plan — until you cancel. Each renewal charges the then-current price to your payment method. If the price changes, we will tell you in advance and you may cancel before it takes effect.

How to cancel — our commitment to you. Cancelling takes one step from your profile — no call, no email, no explanation. We will never make cancelling harder than subscribing. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid period, and you keep access until then.

Refunds. Payments are generally non-refundable, and cancelling stops future charges rather than refunding past ones. If something has gone wrong, email support@knowbefore.net — we would rather hear from you than have you dispute a charge. Nothing here limits refund rights you have under applicable law.

Payment processing. Payments are handled by Stripe under their terms. We do not store your full card details.

7. Acceptable use

Please do not: use Know Before for anything unlawful; attempt to access accounts or systems that are not yours; scrape, bulk-download, or resell our scores, ratings, or database; interfere with the service or attempt to circumvent scan limits; upload anything unlawful, or anything you do not have the right to photograph; or use Know Before to make medical, dosing, or treatment decisions.

We may suspend or end access that breaks these rules.

8. Accuracy, and what we cannot promise

We work hard on accuracy and are honest about uncertainty — every figure carries a confidence indicator and a label showing where it came from. But:

Know Before is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows.

9. Allergies — please read

Know Before's allergen filtering reads menu text and applies typical recipes. It cannot know what is actually in a dish. Hidden ingredients, cross-contamination, and unlisted substitutions are invisible to it.

If you have a food allergy or intolerance, always confirm directly with the restaurant before ordering. Do not rely on Know Before to keep you safe from an allergen.

10. Our content and your content

Know Before's software, design, scoring system, and written content belong to us and are protected by intellectual property law. You may use the service personally; you may not copy, resell, or build a competing product from it.

Photographs you take remain yours. By using Know Before, you give us permission to process them to read the menu and to use the resulting menu information (dish names, descriptions, prices — factual information about restaurants) to improve the service for everyone.

11. Ending the agreement

You may stop using Know Before at any time, or ask us to delete your account as described in section 4. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if we are legally required to, or if we discontinue the service. If we discontinue it while you have paid time remaining, we will refund the unused portion.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Know Before is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or $100.

Some states do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this may not apply to you.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We will change the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use Know Before means you accept the updated Terms.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Seminole County, Florida, and we each agree to those courts having jurisdiction.
